https://herniabible.wordpress.com/2009/04/15/anthony-a-hernia-cure/

The story about Anthony's cure seems to omit that Anthony had hernia surgery a couple years later as his hernia came back. It might be nice to add that to the blog I have tried in the comments but my comments are never made public. If you follow the link in the blog it goes right to his story about having surgery to repair his hernia. Rolling Eyes

That sure is deceptive. Almost warrants creating a blog just to expose this fraud.

Please do not accuse us of fraud. We reported what Anthony told us. His hernia was cured, as shown by ultrasound. We have not received any updates from Anthony. Clearly if it did return it was not the same hernia but a new one in the same place. This can easily happen if you are not careful enough or if your job requires manual labour that places stress on the problem area.

This is taken from the link in the blog.

http://ehealthforum.com/health/topic43624_20.html

Search for some keywords if you want to read it. Yes hernias come back. They also dont show on ultrasound all the time. Its important information that seems to be omitted from the blog.

PS - My hernia came back early last year and I had the operation to insert the mesh. The op went very smoothly, I had no pain at all - until I tried to pass a stool the next day. Whatever you do, start taking a spoonful of psyllium husks in a glass of water every day a couple of days before the operation and thereafter. Constipation is to be avoided when you've just had abdominal wall surgery. Because I wasn't game to strain it took a long time to pass a hard stool and it was extremely uncomfortable. But once I got over that I've had no trouble at all with the mesh solution. I'm back lifting weights again. (The op was in november.)

You may want to update the blog with the whole story. That would be the accurate thing to do.

Anthony's hernia healed up as shown by ultrasound. It is important to be careful after a hernia and not encourage a recurrence as the area may take years to become as strong as it used to be. The same applies after surgery. Many, many hernias come back after hernia surgery.

Id love to say I agree with you.

A ultrasound is a test to prove a hernia exists. Not a test to prove one does not exist.

I have had 2 ultrasounds in four months one showing nothing. One finding something but unsure if it was a hernia. A CT scan which the doctor and radiologist disagreed on.

A ultrasound is not confirmation that a hernia is healed or gone.

This is going to be our last word on the topic.

A hernia is a bulge of intestine through a gap in the abdominal wall. The ultrasound shows whether there is a gap or not. However the abdominal wall has layers of tissue and the gap may have only superficially healed. It may take time for all the layers to heal and for the area to become as strong as it used to be. It is not advisable to undertake strenuous activity too soon.

Conventional wisdom is that the gap cannot heal. Ultrasound and many hundreds of case histories from before the time of hernia surgery show that it can. Having read many heart-wrenching stories of young men's lives ruined forever by botched surgery, we simply aim to give it the best chance to heal. The statistics are appalling, depending on which surgeon you go to, but whoever it is, there is always a risk as the area has many major nerves.
