In mid-October my wife and I were stacking and loading split wood onto a trailer. The next week I noticed a very sharp pain in my left side and shooting down to my testicle.

I waited and over the next two or three weeks the pain seemed to subside. I thought this must have been a case of epiditymitis and it seemed to be going away.

At any rate, for the last month and a half I've had just a dull pain in my left testicle that comes and goes. I'm only aware of it when I sit down and start thinking about it.

I went to the doctor about it (two months after the initial pain) since it didn't seem like it was going away.

He referred me to a urologist who said everything looks clean (no infection) and he thinks it's an inguinal hernia and referred me to another doctor.

Since he was poking me, the last two days I've had a small amount of pain in my left side (but none in my testicle).

With the fact that the pain was so little, and I have very little of anything poking out (I can't even find it except by poking and feeling a little pain when I do that).... what stage would people here say this hernia is in?

It sounds small to me.... what are your thoughts?

If there is no bulge then it is a very small hernia. Hernias range from the size of a pea to the size of a grapefruit or even bigger.

Yeah i agree with you that the sizes of hernia varies but if the hernia is of a pea size then the person should go for treatment before its getting bigger...

Alonso,
You appear to be missing the spirit of this forum.

mattsh,
I urge you to read my story at
http://groin-hernia.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=374

I wish I had clued in while mine was still pea-sized.
I'd say your prognosis is good but you're in for some work.
Fortunately the effort will leave you feeling stronger and younger than before.

Best of luck !!!
