It wasn't until I received a call last week from the hospital telling me I had arrived at the top of the waiting list for surgery that it occured to me I had actually pulled it off. I told them "thanks but no thanks", hung up the phone and pondered the previous 8 months of my life.
I went on the waiting list for surgery right around the same time as I bought 2 supports; sometime late last fall.
I also got on the program - diet (a focus on less gas) and plenty of exercise. I mostly practiced yoga with particular focus on core strength, proper posture and hip flexibility. I found some terrific (and free) yoga videos online. I also worked regular aerobic training into the mix to ensure a complete recovery from the strength training. It took a great deal of dedication, I often had doubts but I charged ahead.
I found the support tolerable to wear at first. Once I took the decision to completely remove the the unused (right) pad, the level of comfort went up considerably. I never regretted modifying the device.
Considering the tremendous shape I now find myself in, I now consider my hernia to have been a blessing in disguise.
Best of luck to all of you!!!
